Assignment #6 - Shape Design

Artist Reflection:
For the sixth assignment in graphic design we had to make a symmetrical shape design. I think the strongest aspect of my work is probably the use of the opacity change. I used this to make it look like the rectangles were going from darker to brighter. I also like the choice of the three colors I used, I think these colors go very well together.  One aspect I think I could improve on is the spacing of my shapes. I think I could make everything more spaced out and make it less active in some spots and more active in others.

Something I found easy about this art activity was the use of the ellipse tool and rectangle tool. This was easy because the shapes I was making were really easy to create, also the color them in was really easy and also very enjoyable. I didn't really find anything that difficult in this project, but if I had to chose one thing it would be the outlining of the circles. I found this confusing a little bit because the settings were some what confusing, but soon I got used to it.

I demonstrated the objective in this project. The objective in this project was to make a symmetrical image with the ellipse and rectangle tool. I did this by using the ellipse tool to make my circles and rectangle tool to make my rectangles. I also had to place my shapes symmetrically and had to keep that in mind while I was placing them. If I were to do this project again I would most likely not put those X's. I wouldn't because I think it takes up a lot of space and doesn't look correct. I enjoyed this project and it was a more easy and calm project that helped me relax while I was completing it.

Assignment #5 Polaroid

Artist Reflection:

For my fifth assignment in graphic design class we has to choose a picture and put polaroid images around it to make it look like it was coming out of the polaroids.  I think the strongest technical aspect of my work is the polaroids placement and the trimming of the parts outside the polaroid. I think this because I believe my artwork looks good with the parts sticking out adding a three-dimensional effect. I think one technical aspect I could improve on is my background. I think I could add more to the background and add more and overlap more things.

Something easy to do in this project I found was the overlapping of the polaroids. I found it easy to place the polaroids like someone just threw them on my image. I found this easy because once I placed all of my polaroids, it was easy to rotate and make all of the polaroids look like i just threw them on a table. Something that was difficult about this project was the cutting of my original image. I think this because it was hard to cut all of the images, one thing that was very helpful though was the polygonal lasso tool. That helped me cut my images out and made it very accurate.

I demonstrated the objective in this project. The objective was to make an image surrounded by polaroids and have parts sticking out of it. I think I did demonstrate the objective of this project because I put some parts sticking out of the polaroids. If I could do this art activity again, (which I would) I would change the basketball player I did it on. I would choose a different image of a basketball player dunking or shooting and put my polaroids around that image. Overall I enjoyed this project and had a lot of fun making it.

Tattoo Artist - Assignment #4

Artist Refection:

For our fourth assignment in Graphic Design class we made a tattoo on our body. I think the strongest technical aspect of my work in this project was the warp tool. This tool made it able for me to create the illusion that the tattoo was wrapping around my arm. A technical aspect that could be improved on is my use of the dodge tool and burn tool. This needs to be improved because the lines I brightened and darkened could be improved.

Something that I found easy in this project was the warp tool. I found this easy because it allowed me to have the tattoo wrap around my arm. It was pretty easy to do this part of the project because the warp tool was an easy tool to use and all you had to do was drag it until the tattoo looked good. A harder aspect of my work was the burn and dodge tool. This is because I the darkening and brightening of the image was confusing and difficult to me at first. Another thing that confused me and I found difficult was the displace tool. This confused me because at first I messed up on the displacement map so the displace tool didn't work correctly.

I demonstrated the objective in this project. The objective of this project was to apply a tattoo to a black and white picture, and make it realistic. I think I demonstrated the objective in my artwork with the way my tattoo looks and how it wraps around my arm, like a real tattoo would. If I were to do this activity again I would use a different tattoo. The new tattoo I would use would be another animal, a lion or a tiger, something fierce like that.

Landscape Collage - Assignment #3

Artist Reflection:
For our third assignment in graphic design class we did a landscape collage. For this we got different images off the internet and used them to put them into a landscape to look like it was all one image. The strongest technical aspect of my work was the masking tool and making the whole project look like it all goes together. The masking tool allowed this to work because I erased the background with the mask. My weakest aspect of technology and the aspect I could work on improving is the cutting with the magic wand and eraser. This could be improved by not trying to cut so exact and making it look so unnatural.

Something I found easy and fun about this project was using the masking tool to make the project all come together. I found this easy because after I was first showed how to, it was very simple after that.  I also found this part of the project very fun and interesting to make a new environment that I created myself. Something that was difficult about this project was getting rid of the white background on the forest and making it look good and realistic. This was difficult because the white background behind the trees was behind the branches and made it look very choppy and unrealistic.

The objective in this project was to create a unified imaginary landscape and have a fore ground, middle ground, and background. I demonstrated the objective in this project by adding the sunset to the background, putting the mountains in the middle ground, and the forest and lake in the fore ground. The fore ground, middle ground, and background all make the imaginary landscape. If I could do this project again something I would do differently would be the environment I made in this imaginary landscape. I would maybe change it to a more tropical theme if I were to do it again.
