Assignment #9 - Painting
Artist Reflection:
In this assignment we chose an image and painted over them. I think the strongest aspect of my work was my use of the paint. I think I used the different colors and opacities of the paint to my advantage in this project. One aspect of this project I could improve on is the background. I was kind of short of time when making this so I could not focus on making a background. I would have liked to paint its background if I had more time.
I think one thing that was easy about this project was the coloring. I liked this because it was fun and easy. I enjoyed painting the different colors and shades of the tiger. Something that was more difficult about this project outlining the eyes and painting over them so they looked good. This was difficult because the tiger had many different colors and shades in his eyes. I outlined the eyes first and then went and used the eyedropper tool to paint each different little part of the eyes.
The objective of this project was to make a painting out of a picture. I think I demonstrated this objective in my work by doing the assignment and just painted over the picture. If i could do this project again and change something I would do a different animal. I think I would do a dog or maybe a cat, something more basic.

Assignment #8 - Pop-art
Artist Reflection:
In this assignment we chose images to make pop-art. I think the strongest technical part of my work is the attention to different skin tones and colors. For example my pop-art of Eazy E (left) I think I made the lips look very realistic. On my picture of Biggie Smalls (right) I think I put a lot of detail into the sweater he is wearing. One thing that I could improve on is on Biggie Smalls making his face more visible, I think it is hard to see the detail on his face.
I think one easy thing about this project was the coloring. I thought this was fun and enjoyable to color in all of the white parts in the picture. Along with being fun, this part of the project also was very easy and that might be why it was so fun. One thing I found difficult about this project was making the image black and white and having all the features still visible. On my picture of Biggie I think the face is a little too dark and you cannot see all of the detail.
The objective of this project was to make an individual pop art and then make a pop art with the image on a four image grid with the hue changed on each one. I think I demonstrated this objective very well throughout my work. I think I really did this with the picture of Biggie, that picture is put into the four image grid. If I could do this again and change something I think I would probably make an NBA player instead of a rapper.

Assignment #7 - Merged Animal
Artist Refection:
In this assignment we had to merge two animals together, the two animals I chose was a duck and a giraffe. The strongest technical aspect in my project was the use of the clone stamp tool. This tool was used to add the duck texture over the giraffes skin. This was used to make my project look a lot more realistic. An aspect that could be improved on is the cutting out of the beak. I think I could make this better by spending more time on cutting this part out.
I think one thing that was easy about this project was lining up the ducks beak with the giraffes head. I did this by lining up the eyes and cutting out the beak and adjusting it until it looks like it was in the correct. One thing I found difficult about this project was the use of the clone stamp tool. I had to do the clone stamp tool many times and at first I didn't understand how to use the tool making it very difficult for me to use.
The objective of this art activity was to combine two animals and have features from each of the animals in the project. I think I demonstrated this part of the project by having the beak and the ducks fur on the giraffe. If I could do this activity again I would choose two different animals to base my project on. I would choose a shark and an eagle, That would be a very interesting combination.

Assignment #6 - Shape Design
Artist Reflection:
For the sixth assignment in graphic design we had to make a symmetrical shape design. I think the strongest aspect of my work is probably the use of the opacity change. I used this to make it look like the rectangles were going from darker to brighter. I also like the choice of the three colors I used, I think these colors go very well together. One aspect I think I could improve on is the spacing of my shapes. I think I could make everything more spaced out and make it less active in some spots and more active in others.
Something I found easy about this art activity was the use of the ellipse tool and rectangle tool. This was easy because the shapes I was making were really easy to create, also the color them in was really easy and also very enjoyable. I didn't really find anything that difficult in this project, but if I had to chose one thing it would be the outlining of the circles. I found this confusing a little bit because the settings were some what confusing, but soon I got used to it.
I demonstrated the objective in this project. The objective in this project was to make a symmetrical image with the ellipse and rectangle tool. I did this by using the ellipse tool to make my circles and rectangle tool to make my rectangles. I also had to place my shapes symmetrically and had to keep that in mind while I was placing them. If I were to do this project again I would most likely not put those X's. I wouldn't because I think it takes up a lot of space and doesn't look correct. I enjoyed this project and it was a more easy and calm project that helped me relax while I was completing it.

Assignment #5 Polaroid
Artist Reflection:
For my fifth assignment in graphic design class we has to choose a picture and put polaroid images around it to make it look like it was coming out of the polaroids. I think the strongest technical aspect of my work is the polaroids placement and the trimming of the parts outside the polaroid. I think this because I believe my artwork looks good with the parts sticking out adding a three-dimensional effect. I think one technical aspect I could improve on is my background. I think I could add more to the background and add more and overlap more things.
Something easy to do in this project I found was the overlapping of the polaroids. I found it easy to place the polaroids like someone just threw them on my image. I found this easy because once I placed all of my polaroids, it was easy to rotate and make all of the polaroids look like i just threw them on a table. Something that was difficult about this project was the cutting of my original image. I think this because it was hard to cut all of the images, one thing that was very helpful though was the polygonal lasso tool. That helped me cut my images out and made it very accurate.
I demonstrated the objective in this project. The objective was to make an image surrounded by polaroids and have parts sticking out of it. I think I did demonstrate the objective of this project because I put some parts sticking out of the polaroids. If I could do this art activity again, (which I would) I would change the basketball player I did it on. I would choose a different image of a basketball player dunking or shooting and put my polaroids around that image. Overall I enjoyed this project and had a lot of fun making it.

Tattoo Artist - Assignment #4
Artist Refection:
For our fourth assignment in Graphic Design class we made a tattoo on our body. I think the strongest technical aspect of my work in this project was the warp tool. This tool made it able for me to create the illusion that the tattoo was wrapping around my arm. A technical aspect that could be improved on is my use of the dodge tool and burn tool. This needs to be improved because the lines I brightened and darkened could be improved.
Something that I found easy in this project was the warp tool. I found this easy because it allowed me to have the tattoo wrap around my arm. It was pretty easy to do this part of the project because the warp tool was an easy tool to use and all you had to do was drag it until the tattoo looked good. A harder aspect of my work was the burn and dodge tool. This is because I the darkening and brightening of the image was confusing and difficult to me at first. Another thing that confused me and I found difficult was the displace tool. This confused me because at first I messed up on the displacement map so the displace tool didn't work correctly.
I demonstrated the objective in this project. The objective of this project was to apply a tattoo to a black and white picture, and make it realistic. I think I demonstrated the objective in my artwork with the way my tattoo looks and how it wraps around my arm, like a real tattoo would. If I were to do this activity again I would use a different tattoo. The new tattoo I would use would be another animal, a lion or a tiger, something fierce like that.
